Kevin McCormick

Master Technician-Consultant

Kevin McCormick has 40 years experience in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Space. He graduated from Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics in 1982 with an FAA Airframe & Power Plant License. His work experience includes both private industry and U.S. government.

At United Airlines his work included heavy structural sheet metal aircraft overhaul and line maintenance systems trouble shooting and repair. At Cleveland Pneumatic Corporation he worked as a service and warranty repair engineer of military and commercial aircraft landing gear.

For the U.S. Government his work experience began as an Aircraft Mechanic supporting flight research in turbo machinery, supersonic compressors, high speed axle flow compressors, centrifugal turbine and compressors, facility drive motor gear boxes and torque meters. He subsequently became Crew Chief and Flight Engineer for a micro-gravity DC-9 aircraft supporting fluid physics, combustion and life science, and was responsible for the maintenance, inspections and servicing of the aircraft. As flight engineer he was responsible for the observations of aircraft systems during the parabolic maneuvers.

Mr. McCormick then became Tactical Lead – Responsible for technician crews in the build-up and modification of vacuum facilities for testing of electric propulsion thrusters and systems. His experience includes 17 years of supporting the design and fabrication of gridded ion thrusters and critical sub-components. He has developed novel welding processes for refractory metals for EP thruster components, and is experienced in design and fabrication of plasma diagnostics.

Mr. McCormick has supported multiple flight programs, and has significant experience in configuring integration tests of EP thrusters and systems - including diagnostics, propellant feed systems, Power Processor Units. as well as vacuum facility design and operations.
